Au bord de la mer

A series of coastal scenes were shown in Portbail, Normandy in September 2010, bringing together a number of oil paintings produced in the preceding two and a half years.  Most were modest in size (c 20cm x 30cm), in white frames with mounts, and behind glass.  Many of these oils were done on very thin card, whose surface added to the facility of handling of the paint.  It was possible to control the levels of absorbency through the thickness and layering of paint, and to achieve a variety of paint effect as a result.
