Lasting impressions: the sea and other passions

The need to create has always been with me, and usually springs from seeing an image I want to possess - in a gallery, in a book, in nature.  I have never lost interest in representation, and have returned to re-workings of Impressionists and other Masters, learning techniques and colour-mixing from those whose work I admire. Inspirations for this show came from Ramsay, Turner, Whistler, Monet, Van Gogh, Fred Cuming, Ken Howard, and many others.  Photographs are mostly of the South-West coast.  The paintings are primarily done for my own enjoyment, in response to earlier study and research, to gallery visits and to my travels.  The images in this exhibition reflect my passions: water, reflections, colour, and most of all, the sea...

The exhibition showed some 80 images, mostly paintings, with a few photographs.  A sample appears below.
